The Backstory of Lil’ Guardsman
Lil is a young child who lives with her father in The Sprawl. Her life drastically changes one morning. He decides to teach her daughter how to work at the guardpost. It happened when suddenly her father wants to go gamble on the next Goblinball match. She is eventually made to do a job and given the duty of keeping the bad guys out of town.
Being a border guard in a fantasy realm is exactly what you would expect it to be like. Especially in considering all the various rules that the kingdom’s higher authorities constantly change. You must consult The Royal Writ everyday to find out what you do throughout the day. They could prohibit the Goblin from entering the city or hurry staff members for a forthcoming wedding.
Lil’s Abilities and Tools as Guardsman
Like other border-guarding games, Lil’ Guardsman contains a lot of shady characters attempting to get past your checkpoint and get into trouble. You have an extensive array of tools at your disposal to identify different types of criminals and smugglers. Before deciding to let someone in, there are three steps you might take to assess their situation at your window. You can send them into the dungeon or turn them away if you so want.

Truth Spray, as its name suggests, pushes its target to tell the truth. Here, all hidden objects can be visible to you, well, thanks to your X-ray machine. You can decode any foreign language or magical runes you see with your handy decoder ring. Your tools are all very playful and then resulting amusing scenarios.
Lil is called to meet a kingdom scientist who made a significant discovery after one shift at the station. It’s an hourglass with time travel capabilities. Lil is then chosen to test this powerful gadget for reasons. It’s a helpful item that lets you undo your actions when someone tries to enter The Sprawl.
Scoring and Additional Task to Play
You’ll given a score of up to four stars based on how good you deal with every single person who comes to your window. A little trial and error and logic will typically allow you to go further into the story of the person attempting to enter the city. Using your devices wisely will show you everything you need to know in order to choose effectively and achieve excellent marks.
In some case, you might receive 3 stars if you find out that a nasty old man has treasures hidden in his suitcase. For the 4th stars, you’ll have to figure out where it came from by decoding the sign on it. It’s possible to receive full marks in multiple ways at times. Then, you can feel free to apply your own discretion and see how your decisions affect the plot. You can always go back and change the outcome if you’re unfulfilled. So don’t worry.
This game is great because of the range of additional jobs you get to do. These include picking a hero to save the princess in a game show similar to Blind Date, selecting the ideal caterers and wedding décor, and entering the family business of illegal gambling. There’s something new for you to do on each of the 12 days of Lil’ Guardsman. Also there is a lot of replay potential due to the many choices available.
Lil’ Guardsman is actually funny and impressive. There aren’t many games that are genuinely funny out there. This game will make you laugh out loud, like Papers, Please. The dazzling Saturday morning cartoon images add to Lil’ Guardsman’s outstanding charm and humor. Seeing Lil’ Guardsman adapted into an adult animated series would be amazing. That’s because everything is perfectly designed for that
Still Great Though Lil Moves Kinda Slow
But there is one quite significant problem. They will require you to walk around town and complete other small tasks when you’re not at the guard station. Although this is acceptable in theory, Lil moves so very slowly that it is difficult to move between the two sides of the screen. I couldn’t wait for this to end because it only gets worse on one certain day.
Lil’ Guardsman is Worth to Play Afterall!
Eventually, I have to admit that Lil’ Guardsman is a genuinely delightful, humorous, and engaging movie. Its colorful fantasy environment and border control gameplay remind me of Papers, Please. It’s always fun to figure out how to use your devices to your advantage in order to score high. Don’t care if it takes some trial and error. Furthermore, I think the variety of tasks is just amazing.
